Day 12 — The Results of the Trial

The Holy Spirit in Acts

Day 12 — The Results of the Trial

Acts 4:24-36

ESV | NASB | NKJV

2. When they heard this, they lifted their voices to God in one accord and said:

a. “O Lord, it is You who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them.

b. You, by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David said:

i. “Why did the Gentiles rage?”

ii. “Why did the people devise futile things?”

iii. “The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together

against the Lord and against His Christ.”

3. “In Jerusalem, Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and Jews gathered against Jesus whom

You anointed to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.”

4. Now, Lord, take note of their threats and grant [supplication]:

a. that your servants may speak Your word with all confidence

b. while You extend Your hand to heal

c. and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant, Jesus

5. When they had prayed:

– the place where they were gathered was shaken

– they all were filled with the Holy Spirit

– they all began to speak the word of God with boldness

– they were all of one heart and soul

– they shared their property

– the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of Jesus with great power

– abundant grace was upon them all

– no one needy among them

6. They brought their proceeds of property sales to the apostles to distribute as there was need.

Questions:

1. Testimonies of fellow believers under fire and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit should lead to

praise of God. As well, prayer for the Holy Spirit to empower all to be confidently speaking forth

the Word and seeing Jesus’ name exalted even more should be a part of corporate worship.

How can this be brought about in the current day church?

2. When was the last time you prayed for boldness from the Holy Spirit to be able to speak the Word

with power?

Should that be only a prayer for preachers and teachers?

Can a mercy-gifted, service-gifted, giving-gifted believer pray this and expect opportunities to

speak God’s Word confidently by the Holy Spirit?

What could that look like?

3. Was the unity and mutual care for one another:

 Emotional response to all that’s happening?

 A direct work of the Holy Spirit?

 The elders new giving program functioning as designed?

 Obedience to Jesus’ instructions? (which?)

4. Is the prayer for healing, signs and wonders in Jesus’ name outdated for our time?

Some teach that these were to establish authority of the apostles and their teaching canonized.
