Ephesians 6:10-20

1. Be Strong in the Lord and in His might 6:10

2. We have been given armor by God to stand against Satan’s schemes 6:11

3. We are commanded to put the armor on—this is not passive activity 6:11

4. Our battle is not against flesh and blood 6:12

5. Our battle is against 6:12

a. Rulers

b. Powers

c. World forces of this darkness

d. Spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places

6. Take up the full armor to be able to resist in the evil day 6:13

7. Having done everything, stand firm, clothed in: 6:13

a. Truth—guarding your loins 6:14

b. Righteousness—guarding your chest 6:14

c. Gospel of peace—protecting your feet 6:15

d. Faith—A shield that extinguishes the evil one’s fiery darts 6:16

e. Salvation—A helmet guarding the head 6:17

f. The Holy Spirit and the Word—offensive weapons 6:17

g. Prayer and petition all times in the Spirit for all saints 6:18

i. utterance for the Gospel 6:19

ii. boldness in proclamation 6:20

1. When your intentions are blocked, or things are not going the way you thought they should, or people are throwing out rude comments, do you ever consider that these may be spiritual in nature?

2. How does this passage change your perspective on your current difficulties?

3. When you are opposed by human conflict, does this change the way you will fight?

4. What is your strongest piece of armor?

Your weakest?

How can these pieces be strengthed?

Does this motivate you to new activities to pursue?

5. Does this say that we have to understand our opposition and how it functions?

6. How do you see the Holy Spirit’s involvement in your conflicts in these areas?

7. How does being strong in the Lord’s might differ from being strong?
